Web 2.0 Applications

My first time with Glogster was an interesting experience. I've seen them before and was fascinated by them and knew that this could be a cool tool for the classroom. I wanted to see how technical it was and after playing with it, I'm now addicted! I can see how the kids could really get into this and make book reports using Glogster. I will definitely be embedding this into my instruction as it will be easy to have buy-in from the kids on the infamous book reports that they usual tend to hate!

Social Media

I am currently a member of pinterest and could not be happier with my experience. Pinterest is like an online corkboard where you "pin" ideas from anywhere around the web. You have access to google.docs and teachers pay teachers, it is basically the best of the best of the teaching web. I have formatted my pinterest board for others to look at. Please enjoy and let me know what you think!

Google Docs

Google docs is another wonderful tool to help share through our wide array of networks. We can download helpful documents and share ones that we have created ourselves. Tools such as pinterest and glogster are wonderful ways to present and share information and google docs is the way to do it. I have created a behavior clipchart for the younger grades to utilize in their classroom, it's a wonderful way to look at a glance of who's on track or who needs to be re-directed. Kids are able to see their clip on the chart and make the right decisions in order to have a good day. Enjoy the document and let me know how it helps you in your classroom!

RSS Reader

RSS readers are wonderful websites that allow you to share information. When I first signed on to Feedly.com I was quickly overwhelmed by the information available to me at my fingertips. It is organized by category but once you grasp exactly where you want to search or a certain topic that you want to look up for example; engaging lessons to go out with a bang, etc. Take a look around and visit feedly make sure you have time to play because you run the gament of topics and ideas will explode through your brain!

Wiki

I don't know if you're like me but I get a ton of emails a day and it's really hard to try and stay on top of them when you're teaching and the conference period is used for so many other things then responding to emails! So, it's easy to have certain details overlooked or forgotten. Wikispaces is the perfect solution to this problem. I can create a page and have my co-workers edit it and change it as we see fit. I also noticed that you can create a projects for a classroom and students can sign on and comment or discuss the project. Which is great the kids will love it!
Here is the link for my page. Wikispaces

2.0 Tools

Animoto has to be one of my favorite web 2.0 tools. It's quick and easy and free! It allows the students to make like an intro to their presentation and summarize what they know about a topic or what they've learned. I created an animoto that I plan on using for the first day of school just to kinda introduce them to the class and show them what they themselves will be making later on in the year. My Animoto!
